20 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops of the 662 Brigade under the 66 Division of the Security Force HQ - Kilinochchi on account of Christmas season gave away a stock of school books and accessories to 40 needy students after assembling all of them at the Church of the Words of Christ, Anavilandankulam, Kilinochchi on Friday (25).
Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku, General Officer Commanding, 66 Division, together with the Commander 662 Brigade, Brigadier Ravi Pathiravithana, Commanding Officer 20 (V) VIR Major S.J.G.A.M Subasinghe and All Ranks volunteered to make this donation a success showing true spirits of caring and sharing during the Christmas.
During the programme, 39 needy students received those gift packs while a special prize was awarded to a child who achieved higher marks in the recent Grade 5 scholarship examination. Students coloured the occasion by staging their aesthetic talents in front of the visitors attending the occasion.
