Troops Build New Shrine & Coordinate Donation of Books to Needy Students

5(V) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops-built new shrine room at Maradanmadu Government Sinhala Mixed school premises was opened for religious observances on Friday (16), amid religious blessings with the participation of veteran cricketer Roshan Mahanama, Lakshman Mahanama and members of Roshan - Wijerama Foundation, who sponsored the construction.

On the same day of the opening of the new shrine room, a donation programme for 55 students got underway at the school premises with a view to uplifting educational standards of Maradanmadu Government Sinhala Mixed School students and 21 students at Maradanmadu Piyawara Montessori. They received school accessories and books in addition to two computers donated to the school during this programme.

This charity programme was implemented according to a request of the previous Wanni Commander, supported by the new Commander Security Forces-Wanni, Major General Hemantha Bandara under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding 21 Infantry Division, Major General Vikum Liyanage.

The event was organized by the 5 (V) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry under the supervision of the Commander, 213 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier K. A. N Rasika Kumara. The Commanding Officer 5 (V) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Major S.D Ratnasiri, Major Admin and Quartering Major J S Dikwattage, Civil Affairs Officer Major E. D. S.
