The newly-established Army School of Logistics at Trincomalee, a novel conceptual notion introduced to the organization by Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army, commemorated its first anniversary, holding a series of activities during the first week of April.
Giving pride of place to religious observances, a representative group of the school, visited Kandy Sri Dalada Maligawa and invoked blessings on the school’s flag as a symbolic act after attending religious rites and rituals.
To this date, the Army School of Logistics after its founding on 4th April 2011 has completed 3 Junior Officers Logistic Courses (JOLC) and 2 Senior Non Commissioned Officers Logistic Courses (SNCOLC).
Arrangements directed by Brigadier Mihidu Kulasuriya, Commandant, Army School of Logistics, consisted of an all night Pirith chanting (April 2) ceremony, a cricket match among officers and other ranks, an all rank lunch plus a musical evening with the Army’s western band.
The school was ceremonially opened on 9th May 2011 by the Commander of the Army.
