Tri-Service Absentees Requested to Receive Their Legal Discharge

Ministry of Defence (MoD) declared a general amnesty period (June 13 - July 13, 2016) for tri-service absentees with the intention of de-listing them from respective services under several categories, Engineer Karunasena Hettiarachchi, Secretary Defence told a press briefing, held at the MoD Media Centre, Colombo 3 this morning (7).   

Under the de-listing programme, discharge of those absentees is to be carried out covering (a) those absent without leave for more than three months (b) those absent without leave less than 3 months but more than 21 days (c) those absent without leave at all (d) those absent without leave for involvement in criminal actions and (e) those absent after sustaining injuries in terrorist attacks.

Those wishing to receive legal discharge from their respective services are requested to report to own regiment with their service identity card, National Identity Card, a photo copy of the pass book, pertaining to the bank account.

However, more information on the implementation of the de-listing project could be obtained from their respective Regimental Headquarters or previous places of duty.
