The gathering at Uva-Kudaoya Commando Regiment Training School (CRTS) for the Passing out Parade (PoP) of the latest group of 157 Commandos was stunned and thrilled as they were exposed to the daring spectacle of skills of those Commandos, exhibited in simulated demonstrations. Sniper demonstrations, Real Fighting Techniques, VIP Protection Displays, Hostage Rescue and Counter-Terrorism Demonstration, Firing Demonstration, Man vs Man Shooting Demonstration, K9 (War Dogs)-Handling Display and Freefall Parachute Display, etc as the final event of the day’s programme.
Live dog shows and free falls from a height of more than 10,000 ft apparently robbed the hearts and minds of the attendees and glued attention as they were of very sensitive nature while columns of Commandos with their trained sniffing dogs showed up in the dropping zone before the crowd amid thundering applause as their shocking stunts were filled with awe and high degree of curiosity. The excitement pervaded as the whole chain of aerobatic skills dominated the final phase of the day's event. (See separate stories for more details)
