Taking State Allegiance Oath, Island-wide Security Force Headquarters Commence Work in New Year

Heralding the dawn of the New Year 2021, island-wide Security Force Headquarters (SFHQs) commenced work on the first working day (Friday (1) prioritizing customary flag raisings, state oath taking, reading of the Commander's New Year Message, Commemoratin of fallen War Heroes, troop addresses, etc

Having unfurled the National Flag by Major General Chinthaka Gamage, Commander Security Forces - East and the Army Flag by Brigadier General Staff, the National anthem and the Army Song were recited before a two-minute silence was observed in memory of fallen War Heroes in the name of the Motherland. All members pledged their allegiance to the State by reading the State Oath afterwards in the presence of the Commander SF-East.

This brief ceremony concluded with the address of the Commander, Security Forces -East in which he highlighted the value of understanding the individual responsibility towards the development of the country and emphasized the need of serving the motherland faithfully as citizens in a proper and disciplined manner. Later on, an awareness lecture on preventive measures to be taken in the face of COVID 19 pandemic was conducted by Captain Ranitha Fernando of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps.

Similarly, the Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu commenced work of the first working day on Friday (1) having accomplished the same above-mentioned customary military formalities, presided by the Commander Security Forces-Mullaittivu, Major General Jagath Rathnayake. Commander, SF-MLT read out the Commander's message before all joined refreshments.

Meanwhile, the Security Force Headquarters-West at Panagoda commenced work of the first working day in keeping with customary military formalities as mentioned above. Proceedings were presided by the Commander, Security Forces- West, Major General Wasantha Abrew. The brief ceremony concluded with the address of the Commander, Security Forces- West in which he emphasized the need of serving the motherland faithfully as citizens in a proper and disciplined manner. Later on, an awareness lecture on preventive measures to be taken in the face of COVID 19 pandemic was conducted by 2nd In Command of the 2 SLAMC.

In the meantime, SFHQ-Wanni extending warm and best wishes to all Officers and Other Ranks for the Year 2021 had its New Year Day arangements, presided by the Commander, Security Forces-Wanni Major General Priyantha Perera. Flag hoisting, followed by a two-minute silence to pay tribute to the memory of fallen war heroes set the stage ready for all troops to listen to an awareness speech on COVID-19 delivered by a Medical Officer. Reading of the state oath, reading of the Commander's message, troop address, etc followed during the brief ceremony.

Brigadier General Staff Brigadier Nalin Koswatta, Brigadier Administration and Quartering, Brigadier Jagath Nishantha along with all Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and civil staffers performing duties at the Wanni Security Force Headquarters were associated with the day's inauguration.

Likewise, the dawn of the New Year 2021 was marked by the Commander, Security Forces-Jaffna, together with all Officers and Other Ranks of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna sticking to customary proceedings.

Commander Security Forces Jaffna Major General Senarath Bandara hoisted the National Flag prior to the National Anthem and the recital of the Army Song by the attendees. A two-minute silence was then observed to remember fallen war heroes.

Subsequently the state oath and the New Year message of the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army was read out to everybody. Further, the Security Forces Commander addressed all Officers, Other Ranks, members of civil staffers and wished courage and strength to continue their work together with new hopes and success in the New Year. At the end of the day's programme, a lecture on prevention of COVID 19 to educate the Officers and Other Ranks serving in the Security Force Headquarters -Jaffna was conducted by Lieutenant Krishantha Samarasinghe of 4 Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps.

Meanwhile, Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda, Commander, Security Forces- Kilinochchi extending warm and best wishes to all Officers and Other Ranks working under the SFHQ-KLN hoisted the national flag and marked the dawn the of the New Year 2021, together with the troops.

A two-minute silence to pay tribute to the memory of fallen war heroes, reading of the state allegiance oath by the General Staff Officer II (Training) and the presentation of the New Year day message of the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army and the Kilinochchi Commander's troop address were the main highlights of the day's proceedings.

Later on, an awareness lecture on ‘Prevention from COVID-19 pandemic’ was conducted by a medical officer of the Kilinochchi Army Base Hospital for troops of the SFHQ- KLN at the auditorium.

All Senior Staff Officers, Officers and Other Ranks and civil staffers were present during the proceedings.

In the meantime, troops in the Sri Lanka General Service Corps Farm at Paneluwa marked the dawn of the New Year launching a sapling planting project inside the camp premises.
