H E Dominik Furgler, Ambassador of Switzerland for Sri Lanka and Maldives along with a few officials visited the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna on Thursday (18) during a visit to the peninsula. Major General Priyantha Perera, Commander Security Forces - Jaffna welcomed them to the SFHQ-J.
During the cordial meeting, a comprehensive briefing on matters pertaining to the Civil - Military Coordination (CIMIC) and Reconciliation Process in the peninsula was presented by the Commander, Security Force - Jaffna. Further, he highlighted the ongoing efforts of recruiting Tamil youth to the Army as officers and other rankers, Promotion of cultural ties, Provision of welfare for civilians and needy school-going students, Construction of houses, etc during the presentation.
The Ambassador of Switzerland and his first secretary (Political Affairs) Ms. Sidonia Gabrial and other officials expressed happiness over prevailing civil- military relations and underlined the importance of further strengthening of such bonds.
