SVAB 'Mobile Service' Resolves Issues Related to Disable Gajaba War Heroes

The Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB), intending to resolve issues pertaining to war-affected disable War Heroes had its fifth ‘mobile service’ arrangement at Senapura Gajaba Regiment (GR) Re-enforcement Battalion Headquarters on Saturday (25).

Saturday’s (25) mobile service at Senapura awarded a few hundreds of GR disable Officers and Other Ranks the chance of directly meeting most senior officers from the Army Directorate of Welfare, Directorate of Additional Welfare, Directorate of Medical Services, Directorate of Rehabilitation, Directorate of Pay & Records and a few other wings in the Army of direct relevance and concern to them in order to find solutions for their burning issues on the spot without sticking to time-consuming formalities.

Several disable War Heroes attending the occasion sought assistance for the speedy grant of Army loans that have been applied by them but still in waiting while several disable War Heroes aired their grievances on planned completion of their partly-built houses and non-availability of either an own house or a plot of land to call for themselves.

Different separate panels that gave patient hearing to those disable War Heroes throughout the day identified and evaluated their problems and promised them speedy action as most of the decision-makers in the Army were also associated with the day’s arrangement at Senapura. The occasion also permitted those disable War Heroes to find counseling and different guidelines for various problems in their personal home fronts, educational sphere of their children, social and cultural issues, health care, etc.

On the same occasion, Mrs Jayasuriya, promptly responding to several requirements such as completion of partly-thatched roofs, purchase of water pumping machines or plastic water tanks, etc gave an undertaking to do the needful as soon as possible on behalf of the SVAB with the support of donors and philanthropists in the civil sector.

Mrs. Manjulika Jayasuriya awarded 15 scholarships to the children of War Heroes during this project. Funds for 5 of these scholarships were coordinated by the GR Seva Vanitha Unit through the donations of various philanthropists while the rest was donated by SVAB.

Following the conclusion of the day’s mobile service, Mrs Jayasuriya took time off to further interact with disable War Heroes after visiting various projects being carried out by them at the Battalion Headquarters premises. Those War Heroes at present are engaged in projects such as production of concrete bricks, milk related products including yoghurt, leather products, coir items inclusive of brooms, ropes and jute bags, etc.

Mrs. Jayasuriya after closely observing the products advised them to further promote the quality and standards of their products, enabling her to find a ready market for those products with the help of businessmen outside.
