A ceremony to award scholarships to clever students in schools around Gajasinghapura, Settikulam and distribute school accessories, worth over Rs 2,34,000/= among school-goers, took place on Wednesday (27) at Vavuniya, Warikuttur Ganeshwara Maha Vidyalayam.
Major General Boniface Perera, Security Force Commander - Wanni attended the occasion as the Chief Guest at the invitation of the 213 Brigade Headquarters.
During the ceremony, two achievers in the scholarship examination and another group of 11 Tamil students who scored more than 131 marks in the Grade 5 scholarship examination, and more than 200 students from the area received scholarships for further studies and gift parcels containing school accessories.
The event also saw two teachers who taught Grade 5 scholarship achievers were rewarded on the same occasion with the patronage of CEFCO agency, 213 Brigade Headquarters and 24 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry.
The ceremony was attended by General Officer Commanding, 21 Division, Senior Officers, Unit Commanders, community leaders, Settikulam Educational Zone Director, representatives of CEFCO and a large gathering.
