Sri Lanka Army troops serving Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni (SFHQ - W) rushed to the assistance of civilians at Manik Farm Relief Village when gushing winds took away their roofs and damaged their temporary houses.
Stormy winds on Saturday (March 31) unexpectedly hit the Zone - 1 at Manik Farm Relief Village, causing damages to over one thousand temporary houses and injuring about ten inmates.
Major General A.K.S. Perera, Commander, SFHQ - W directed troops to immediately provide relief by way of foods and drinks, repairs to the houses, rebuilding and relocating them elsewhere. Troops accordingly acted and brought normalcy to the affected families within a matter of a day.
Major General A.K.S. Perera who took a special interest in immediate disaster relief work visited the place, together with several senior officers and made arrangements in this connection.
