Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda, Commander, Security Forces-Kilinochchi as the Chief Guest on Saturday (30) fulfilled the long-felt need of all sports loving soldiers in Kilinochchi and gifted them with a state-of- the art new pavilion for the completely renovated playground in the Security Force HQ - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) camp compound.
The playground and the pavilion were made a reality after clearing a barren land inside the camp. Troops of 11 Corps of Engineer Services (CES) and labour contribution from all Kilinochchi battalions under the SFHQ-KLN were instrumental in building the pavilion and preparing the playground to match with high standards.
An exhibition cricket match was played between two teams to mark the inauguration after the opening was done by the day's Chief Guest. Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Saman Liyanage, Brigadier Admin and Quartering, Brigadier Deepal Hathurusinghe, Senior Staff Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the SFHQ-KLN were present during the event.
