The Special Forces (SF) arranged a formal ceremony to bid farewell to Major General K.D.U. Karunaratne RSP USP of the Special Forces, on 02 May 2026 at the SF Regimental Headquarters.
Upon arrival, the retiring Senior Officer was accorded a Guard Turnout at the entrance, followed by a Guard of Honour.
Then, the retiring Senior Officer laid a floral wreath at the War Heroes’ Monument. Adding memories to the day, he was invited to pose for a group photograph and later addressed the troops. The formalities continued with an All-Ranks tea.
The day’s events culminated in a formal farewell dinner hosted in his honour at the 1st Regiment of SF Officers’ Mess.
Senior Officers,Officers and Other Ranks of the regiment participated in the event.
