SEVENTY FIVE solar-powered electric lamps were distributed among students at the Menik Farm relief village who scored the highest marks at the Grade 5 scholarship examination 2009 to assist those students in their studies.
The donation was arranged on the instructions of Commander Security Forces Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) Major General Kamal Gunarathne with sponsorship of Jinasena (Pvt) Limited.
The principal at Royal College, Colombo Mr. Upali Gunasekara and a section of Royalists who coordinated the donation handed over those lamps to recipients during a ceremony held at the Kadiragamar village in the Menik Farm on Monday (23).
The chief Coordinating Officer of the office of the Competent Authority for the Northern Province Colonel Nishantha Wadugodapitiya, a few officers and some residents at Menik Farm were present.
