2 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops of the 11 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) promptly responded to an SOS call received from the Kundasale Fire Brigade for assistance on Tuesday (26) and hurried to rescue a couple of civilians, said to have been buried beneath a mound of earth in the general area of Nagasthenna, Kandy.
Untiring efforts of the troops, firemen and some civilians managed to evacuate those three trapped civilians under earth after clearing soil, but one of them was pronounced dead on admission to the Kandy Teaching Hospital.
