A group of 2 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment soldiers actively contributed to the Kandy district Dengue eradication programme, launched by the office of the District Health Services in Werellagama.
Kandy Municipal Council in writing sought the assistance of Army troops for this task since the area by the side of Malwatta Temple canal remained highly polluted and a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
Army troops led by several officers within a matter of 6 – 7 hours completed the task and informed the relevant health authorities in the area.
