Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) marked its 66th Anniversary (Regimental Day) on 01 October 2022 with a series of events at the SLSR Regimental Centre, Ambepussa.
Brigadier Nishantha Muthumala, Centre Commandant, warmly received Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, Commander Security Forces - East and Colonel of the Regiment SLSR as the Chief Guest for the commemorative ceremony.
After a formal Guard Turnout at the entrance, the day’s Chief Guest was invited to review the colourful and dignified military parade and accept the salute in conformity with traditions.
As melodies of patriotic songs began rending the air, the Colonel of the Regiment, SLSR as the Chief Guest, received the salute from the special dais after the customary military parade saluted him.
Afterwards, the Colonel of the Regiment, together with other Senior Officers, paid floral tributes to the SLSR memorial in the premises and evoked merits to 3929 SLSR members who made the supreme sacrifice while defending the country’s territorial integrity.
The Colonel of the Regiment with All Ranks at the end of the day’s ceremony sat for lunch at the Other Ranks’ mess. The ceremony culminated with a formal get-together at the Officers’ Mess.
