SLNG Colonel of the Regiment Makes His First Visit to SLNG HQ

Major General Vikum Liyanage, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) made his first visit to the Sri Lanka National Guard Headquarters in Wehera, Kurunegala on Sunday (6) after assumption of duties as the Chief of Staff.

The day’s itinerary began after Brigadier Shean Gunawardhana, SLNG Centre Commandant warmly received the visiting Major General Vikum Liyanage on arrival where he was invited to review the Guard Turnout at the entrance to the SLNG - Headquarters premises. At the outset, he laid a floral wreath at the SLNG War Heroes monument and saluted their memory. After a while, a Guard of Honour, accorded to him saluted him as a military formality.

Afterwards, Major General Vikum Liyanage addressed SLNG troops and called upon all to work towards the betterment of the Regiment in future too.

Regimental Council members, regimental Staff Officers, Commanding Officers and Other Ranks participated in the ceremony, adhering to the health guidelines.
