A farewell ceremony was hosted in honour of retiring Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) of the Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME), Major General Duminda Sirinaga on Friday (08) at the SLEME Regimental Centre in Colombo 2.
On his arrival at the regimental headquarters premises, the Centre Commandant, Brigadier Nilam Herath welcomed the Chief Guest and invited him to review the Guard Turnout and the Guard of Honour parade, presented by the troops in accordance with military traditions followed by a troop address and an all rank tea arrangement with All Ranks.
The Senior Officers, including the Brigadier Indu Samarakoon, Director, Directorate of Electrical and Mechnical Engineering (DEME), together with all Officers and Other Ranks of the SLEME joined the ceremony and extended their heartfelt gratitude to the retiring senior officer for his commitment and dedication to the SLEME and the Army for over 35 years as an exemplary Officer.
The same evening a customary farewell dinner hosted on behalf of Major General Duminda Sirinaga at the regimental officers' mess was attended by his spouse, Chairperson, SLEME Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Priyadarshani Sirinaga, officers and their spouses. A video documentary presented by Brig Nilam Herath, Centre Commandant -RHQ SLEME appreciated his service before a special memento was presented to him.
All the senior officers including Brigadier Indu Samarakoon Director, Directorate of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering and other senior officers, officers together with their spouses wished him and his family a healthy and happy retired life.
