SLEME Commemorates Its 73rd Anniversary

The Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) Regiment marked its 73rd anniversary by conducting a series of events during the past few weeks before the dawn of the anniversary day (12 December).

Those commemorative features got underway at the SLEME Regimental HQ in Colombo 2 in close collaboration with the SLEME Seva Vanitha Branch on the directions of Major General Indu Samarakoon, Colonel Commandant, SLEME and Commander, Army Logistics Command.

In parallel with the Regiment’s anniversary, SLEME troops conducted the donation of books to the deserving students, ‘Bluebell Night - 2022’ fundraising musical show, alms-giving to 15 monks, distribution of dry ration packs, tributes to fallen War Heroes, family get-togethers and opening of the newly-constructed two-storied building at SLEME Department of Automobile Technology.

On the anniversary day, SLEME troops in line with the formal military traditions presented a Guard Turnout and a colorful parade to their Colonel Commandant, Major General Indu Samarakoon.

An all rank lunch on the anniversary day brought the anniversary segment to an end.
