SLE Headquarters Salutes Its Outgoing Colonel Commandant

Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) at Panagoda Army Cantonment on Tuesday (28) honoured one of its illustrious senior officers, Major General Channa Goonetilleke, Colonel Commandant, SLE who is also the Chief of Staff of the Army on the eve of his retirement after an exemplary career of more than 35 years.

The day’s programme commenced with the arrival of Major General Channa Goonetilleke, to be received by Brigadier I.H.M.N.N Herath, Regimental Centre Commandant, SLE after he was greeted to a formal Guard Turnout at the entrance to the premises.

Minutes later, Major General Channa Goonetilleke took the salute in the military parade, presented by SLE troops before he formally relinquished his responsibilities as the SLE Colonel Commandant.

He afterwards addressed the troops in the military parade and expressed his gratitude to all of them for the support given during his tenure as the Colonel Commandant, SLE.

The outgoing Colonel Commandant a little later interacted with officers and other rankers present at the premises and shared a few thoughts with them.

Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, SLE Council Members, Senior Officers, Officers and other ranks participated in the day’s event.
