The 'Waggoners’ Holiday Bungalow for Other Ranks, a long-felt need of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC), constructed inside the 8 SLASC camp premises in Diyatalawa was vested in the Other Ranks on Thursday (17) during a simple ceremony.
The construction of the holiday bungalow was previously estimated at Rs 140 lakhs for the SLASC and it was completed under the guidance of Colonel Commandant SLASC and the Director Agriculture and Livestock, Brigadier Indrajith Kandanarachchi, together with the active support of the SLASC Centre Commandant, Colonel Asoka Ambanpola.
Similarly, the commendable commitment of the Commanding Officer 8 SLASC Lieutenant Colonel Shalutha Jayawardane and contribution of 8 SLASC all ranks saw the entire project was brought to completion with Rs. 85 lakhs, less than the estimated Rs 140 lakhs.
The holiday bungalow consists of three bedrooms with attached bathrooms, hot water facility and other comforts.
The project was made a success as a concept of the Colonel Commandant SLASC and funds for the construction were borne through the ORs’ Welfare Fund which was raised in the year 2019.
The Holiday Bungalow was declared open by Brigadier (Log) HQ SLAVF Brigadier Sunil Pingamage at the auspicious minute on Thursday (17). short url link | Sneakers
