SLAGSC Officers Vested with New Mess Building

The Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) Regimental Centre at Panagoda Army Cantonment on Sunday (17) proudly and ceremonially vested its new Officers Mess wing in all SLAGSC officers.  

The Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya as the Chief Guest for the inauguration of this new three-storied wing declared it opened at the invitation of the SLAGSC Colonel Commandant Major General H.L Weerathunge. 

The new building with two ante rooms, accommodation facilities, a room for billiards, a modern pantry, a TV room and separate spaces for visitors as well as ladies, offers many other facilities to SLAGSC officers.

The Commander of the Army, accompanied by Mrs. Manjulika Jayasuriya, President, Seva Vanitha Army Branch was warmly received by the Colonel Commandant SLAGSC Major General H. L. Weerathunge on arrival and conducted him to the entrance at the new Officers’ Mess wing.  

Chief Guest Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya at the auspicious minute cut a ribbon and unveiled the plaque on the building, marking the official opening of it. Later on, the Commander of the Army lit the traditional oil lamp in the building and made the house warming.

Lieutenant General Jayasuriya also left a special note on the SLAGSC visitors’ book before posing for a group photograph with all the SLAGSC Senior Officers who were associated with the occasion.

Director, Budget and Finance Brigadier D. C. S. Wanniarachchi, Director Pay and Records Brigadier W. R. Palihakkara and SLAGSC Centre Commandant Colonel W. G. L. Padmakumara and a gathering of officers and their ladies were present at the occasion.
