As of this morning (16), a total of 774 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. All of them are locally-identified ones, including the majority 208 from Gampaha district, 179 from Colombo district, 82 from Ratnapura district and 305 others from different districts, states the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).
By this morning (16), a total of 76,427 persons, inclusive of 72,906 of the fish market and Minuwangoda Brandix cluster have been confirmed positive to COVID-19 from all over the country, including the dead. 69,410 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients have been so far discharged from hospitals and the rest 6,614 are still under treatment in hospitals and care centers.
In the past 24 hours, 715 recovered patients have left hospitals and care centres. 6 more deaths have been reported from Divulankadawala, Pahala Thalwinna, Nugegoda, Wattala, Hunnasgiriya and Hanwella areas in the past 24 hours. Accordingly, the COVID-19 death toll in the country rose to 403 by this morning (16).
