Signallers Mark 70th Anniversary with Many Events

A series of ceremonies organized by Sri Lanka Signal Corps Regimental Headquarters and Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) Seva Vanitha Unit recently to mark SLSC’s 70th Anniversary included distribution of gift parcels to the value of Rs 1 lakh among next of kin of fallen SLSC War Heroes, opening of a holiday bungalow, a family get-together and religious observances.

An alms-giving, held to invoke merits on fallen War Heroes was provided 25 pieces of offerings (Pirikara) to members of the Maha Sangha by the SLSC Seva Vanitha Unit.
   
A ceremonial parade and a Guard Turnout saluted the Colonel Commandant of the SLSC Major General E.P De Z Abeysekara as part of the 70th Anniversary ceremonies. An all-night Pirith chanting, alms-giving and presentation of symbolic awards to SLSC achievers and sportsmen, a mess get-together and a mess night for officers and all ranks culminated the events.

A special holiday bungalow, erected in the SLSC Regimental Headquarters premises at Panagoda, was also opened by the SLSC Colonel Commandant on the anniversary day.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Army Signal Association, comprised of retired officers had a separate arrangement at Public Library auditorium to coincide with the 70th SLSC Anniversary.

Colonel Commandant of the SLSC Major General E.P De Z Abeysekara as the Guest of Honour graced the occasion and gave away some gift parcels to retired SLSC servicemen, appreciating their roles.
