The Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) Regimental Headquarters, Panagoda in a fitting farewell ceremony on Saturday (23) bade farewell to one of the most exemplary Senior Officers, Major General Adeepa Thilakarathna, the retiring Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army before he relinquishes his office after a distinguished service of more than 34 years.
The outgoing Chief Signal Officer in conformity with military traditions was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant, Colonel Ashoka Gunasekara and accorded a Guard Turnout on his arrival at the main entrance to the SLSC Regimental HQ. Afterwards, he laid a floral wreath at the War Heroes’ monument in remembrance of fallen War Heroes before he was invited to receive the salute in the Guard of Honour in accordance with military formalities. It followed refreshments where he had the chance of interacting with All Ranks present at the occasion.
Subsequently, he addressed the SLSC troops through a live webcast and left compliments in the visitors’ book at the RHQ. Finally, all Officers and Other Ranks in a moving gesture honoured him in a street-line farewell as his vehicle began to move out of the Regimental Centre premises. The formalities culminated with a customary dinner night where his unblemished and committed service was hailed and awarded a special memento.
