Troops of the 622 Brigade under the 62 Division in the Security Force Headquarters Wanni (SFHQ-W) recently performed more community projects, including a medical campaign, donation of a water filter and school items and legal assistance, together with the Lions’ club, Medawachchiya for the benefit of villagers.
During the medical campaign, Rs. 106,000/= worth spectacles were distributed among 106 villagers, selected at the eye clinic. Meanwhile, urine tests were conducted for 87 villagers to identify kidney failures during the same mobile clinic.
Lions club donated Rs. 500,000/= worth water purification filter for the welfare of villagers to reduce the threat from kidney diseases. The water purification pump was declared opened by Lion Ranjith Premalal.
In the meantime, Rs 14000.00 worth school items were distributed among Pre School students and legal advice was given to 12 villagers by veteran lawyers during the event free of charge.
Civil Affairs Officers, 62 Division, Civil Affairs Officers, 621 Brigade and Brigade Major (BM), 622 Brigade were attended and supervised the smooth functioning of the programme.
