Puliyankulama, Saliyapura ‘Sathutu Niwasa’ (Home for the mentally retarded) children on Friday (22) had a day of fun following initiatives taken by the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) who went there to mark the 15th Anniversary of the SFHQ-W.
On the instructions of Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, SFHQ-W, a representative group of SFHQ-W troops supplied those inmates with a sumptuous lunch, gift parcels and other requirements of the Home for the Mentally-retarded Children.
Troops also provided musical entertainment to these children who joined dancing and singing for a couple of hours.
Religious observances of all major denominations preceded the programme at the Home for the Mentally-retarded Children.
Lieutenant Colonel K.R.S.P.K Kahagalla, Assistant Civil Affairs Officer, SFHQ-W, together with a group of officers and other ranks took part in the anniversary programme.
Meanwhile, the SFHQ-W marked its anniversary at the SFHQ-W premises with a formal military ceremony, comprised of floral wreath laying, religious observances of all 3 denominations.
