SFHQ-East Joins Distribution of Dry Rations among Deserving People

The financial assistance, offered to the Army by a Gampaha-based philanthropist enabled troops of the Security Force Headquarters -East to launch one more phase of its “Manushyathwaye Sahana Yathrawa” community project in order to distribute a consignment of 200 dry ration packs, each valued at rs 5000/= among most deserving communities, resident in the general areas of Thoppigala, Kiliveddy, Kirillaveli Welikanda, Sinhapura, Sewanapitiya and Katuwanwila in the East on Monday (25).

Mr. Prasad Lokubalasooriya of Gampaha sponsored the donation at the request of Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, Commander, Security Forces -East,

The project, coordinated and organized by the troops under the directions of Major General Priyantha Jayawardene, Commander, Security Forces -East at first distributed 100 dry ration packs to needy families in Thoppigala, Kiliweddy and Kirillaweli areas where the 232 Brigade Commander, joined and distributed the stock.

The second phase distributed another 100 dry ration packs to the needy families in Welikanda, Sinhapura, Sewanapitiya and Katuwanwila villages, situated around the SFHQ - East areas on the same day (25) with the participation of the Commander, Security Forces -East as the Chief Guest. Several senior and junior staff officers joined the occasion.

The Civil Affairs section of the SFHQ - East closely supervised the project for coordination. Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Sujeewa Jayasinghe, Brigadier Coordinating, Brigadier Kapila Chakrawarthi, the Chief Coordinator of the Civil Affairs, Colonel Rajiv Fernando, Staff Officers and Other Ranks of the SFHQ- East) attended the donation programmes.
