SFHQ-Central Distributes Drinking Water among Drought-Affected


Troops of 111, 112 and 121 Brigade under 11 and 12 Divisions under the supervision of Major General A.M Perera, Commander Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) distributed a large consignment of drinking water among drought-hit people living in their areas of responsibility in the past few days.

Troops of 5 Gemunu Watch, 12 Gemunu Watch and 17 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment serving the 121 Brigade took part  in  distributing drinking water to most-affected areas in Tanamalwila, Wellawaya, Buttala, Moneragala, Siyambalanduwa, Medagama, Bibila, Madulla and Badalkumbura. 20 water bowsers of the Army and another 17 from divisional secretariat offices were used for the relief project.
    
Meanwhile, troops serving the 112 Brigade organized a drinking water distribution campaign in Ridmaliyadda, Meegahakivula and Minipe areas with 7 water bowsers on Sunday (10) and Tuesday (12).
    
A total of 1400000 liters of drinking water have been so far distributed among 12958 families by the troops of SFHQ-C.
    
In the meantime, SFHQ-C received a donation of 100 water tanks of 1000 l and 100 water tanks of 500 l under the Manusath Derana Community programmes  launched by Derana TV Channel as a result of cordial disunions took place between its Chairman Mr Lacksiri Wickramage and Commander SFHQ-C. On the same occasion, large contingent of drinking water bottles were also distributed among drought-hit people.

Additional District Secretary of Moneragala, Commander 12 Division, Divisional Secretaries, Director of District Disaster Management, Operational Director of Derana TV Channel with his staff, senior Army officers and people in the area were associated with the distribution event.
