A formal ceremony took place on Tuesday (19) in connection with the inauguration of office of the newly-appointed Commander, Security Forces – Jaffna Major General Priyantha Perera at the Security Force HQ-Jaffna.
As the first segment of the ceremony, the new Commander Security Forces - Jaffna was accorded a Guard Turnout by troops of the 12 Gemunu Watch at the entrance to the SFHQ premises. Then he paid tribute to the memory of fallen War Heroes by laying a floral wreath at the monument. Later on, troops attending the ceremony presented a Guard of Honour and saluted him in accordance with military traditions.
Thereafter amid religious observances, he placed his signature for a formal document to symbolize acceptance of his new office and left memories by planting a sapling in the premises before joining for a group photograph with senior officers. Afterwards he addressed all ranks at the SFHQ-J and set out his work plan in future.
General Officers Commanding of Divisions, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers of SFHQ-J, Officers and NCOs were present at the inauguration ceremony.
Major General Priyantha Perera was the Commander, Security Forces-Wanni, prior to this new appointment. He succeeds Major General Senarath Bandara who has now been appointed the new Chief of Staff a few days ago. Sport media | GOLF NIKE SHOES
