Role of Civil Affairs Discussed in Workshop

In accordance with the ‘Way Forward Strategy 2020-2025’ conceptualized by General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, the Directorate of Psychological Operations (Psy Ops) recently held a three-day workshop on the role of Civil Affairs Officers serving Security Force Headquarters (SFHQs) across the country at the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Regimental Centre.

The three-day workshop (2, 3 & 4 March) covered subjects such as ‘Contemporary Civil Affairs’, ‘Responsibilities of Civil Affairs Officers’, ‘Ethics of Civil Affairs Officer’, ‘Diners’ Club (Hospitality – The Civil and Military Perspective)’, ‘Hindu Culture’, ‘War History’ and ‘Islamic Culture’, etc.

A total of 33 Civil Affairs Officers at all SFHQs and their under command Division and Brigade levels took part in the three-day long conference.

Major General Manjula Karunarathne, General Officer Commanding 64 Division, Brigadier Anurudda Senevirathne, Director Psychological Operations, Colonel K.T.R.P Kodippili, Colonel B.M.R.J Bandara, Lieutenant Colonel K.J Ranaweera, Lieutenant Colonel I.U.K Waththegedara, Lieutenant Colonel J.B Weragama (Retd), Lieutenant Colonel B.G.S Samanthi, Major E.A.S Chaminda together with Mr Ashaik Amihar Hakamideen and Ms Chathuradi Wijesinghe by representing Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS) protocol section were among the resource personnel.
