To coincide with the 65th National Independence Day, the Security Forces Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) distributed 100 dry-ration packets and school accessories, valued more than Rs. 1 million among newly-resettled families and their children during a ceremony at Kelebogaswewa Community Centre on Sunday (3).
Sponsorship to this worthy project was offered by the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress (ACBC) at Colombo 7 following coordination, done by the SFHQ-W. A total of 152 school children received shoes, bags, books and educational accessories on the occasion, in addition to the distribution of dry-food items.
Ven. Etambagaskada Kalyanatissa Nayaka Thero, Northern Province Deputy Sanghanayaka, Mr Jagath Sumathipala, Chairman, ACBC, Mr Anura Gunadasa, Vice Chairman, ACBC, Dr Rani Fernando, Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, SFHQ-W, General Officer Commanding, 56 Division, Brigadier Administration at SFHQ-W, 563 Brigade Commander, several ACBC officials and a large gathering witnessed the brief ceremony.
Kelebogaswewa area has people of all three major ethnicities and the SFHQ-W in coordination with state agencies have taken all measures to further improve infrastructure facilities of these resettled people on the instructions of Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, SFHQ-W who delivered a brief speech on the occasion.
