Request for Renovation of Wards at Apeksha Hospital Fulfilled

Members of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regiment in response to a request of medical authorities, took steps to extend their voluntary support for renovation of Wards 3 & 4 at the Apeksha Hospital (Cancer Institute) at Maharagama.

Upon completion of the renovation project, Major General Amal Karunasekara, Colonel of the Regiment, SLLI and Chief of Staff of the Army formally handed over both Wards back to hospital authorities on Tuesday (20) during a simple ceremony at Maharagama ‘Apeksha’ Hospital premises.

Major General Amal Karunasekara, Colonel of the Regiment, SLLI responding quickly to the SOS need projected to him, instructed SLLI troops of the Army to immediately take up the task and begin renovation work in both those Wards that remain requiring repairs and renovations.

Dr. Prasad Abeysinghe, Director, ‘Apeksha’ Hospital in Maharagama formally accepted the Wards from the visiting Colonel of the Regiment, SLLI.

The SLLI Centre Commandant, together with regimental staff participated in the event.
