Security Forces Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E), which during the final few years of the fight against terrorism, fulfilled an untiring security role by bringing all service wings under one umbrella, recently commemorated its 9th anniversary, giving pride of place to an all-night Pirith chanting ceremony.
All anniversary arrangements, organized on the directions given by Major General Lal Perera, Commander SFHQ-E took place between Oct 27-Nov 02 at SFHQ Headquarters premises.
On the day of the anniversary (Oct 31), a Guard of Honour saluted the Commander SFHQ-E as a military formality before a customary address, made by the Commander.
A get-together of officers and senior non commissioned officers, an all rank lunch, a mess party plus a musical show, added colour to the anniversary events.
Major General Lal Perera, General Officers Commanding in all Divisions under the SFHQ-E, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and a large gathering of other ranks participated in anniversary programmes.
