Another exciting round of the Ranaviru Real Star Mission IV (RRS) reality show was staged last evening at the Air Force auditorium in Ratmalana. Running for the fourth consecutive season the country's only reality show for the members of the armed forces, RRS provides a platform for them to highlight their hidden vocal talents.
The brainchild of the show, Secretary Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa accompanied by Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa was present to witness the evening's proceedings.
After facing stiff competitions twelve contestants from the initial thirty-six have reached the semi final rounds. Contestants are judged by an eminent panel of Judges whose decision will account for 60 percent of the final outcome and the rest will be decided by popular vote through SMS's.
Telecast over the Rupavahini, the national television channel in collaboration with Dialog Axiata mobile phone company the programme had won over one of the largest fan base for a reality programme in the country. Winners are presented with valuable luxury houses, cars and millions of rupees worth cash prizes.
Associating with the success of the RRS Toyota Lanka (Pvt) once again is presenting a luxury Toyota Avanza car valued at five million rupees for the 1st runner up at the final show. The keys to the car was handed over to Mr. Rajapaksa by Mr. Shungo Yoshioka, Managing Director of the company during the event. 'Sittharavi'. a CD containing songs of the first Ranaviru Real Star show winner, Captain Damian Fernando of the Sri Lanka Navy was also presented to Mr. Rajapaksa. This is Captain Fernando's maiden venture.
During the proceedings last evening the contestants performed Sinhala folk songs.
