1 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) troops of the 582 Brigade of the 58 Division under command to the Security Force HQ-West launched a project to assist the deserving poor villagers by way of distributing 78 dry ration packs among villagers in the Raigamwatta Grama Seva Division in Ingiriya on Wednesday (31).
At the request of Major General Wipula Ihalage, General Officer Commanding, 58 Division, Mr Sanjaya Peiris, a philanthropist sponsored the supply of those relief packs, each worth Rs 6000/=.
78 needy families in Raigamwatta area were the beneficiaries and recipients were selected in consultation with the Grama Seva official. Lieutenant Colonel U.L.D.K Perera, Commanding Officer, 1 Sri Lanka Light Infantry closely supervised the programme.
