Private K Puvitharan of 2 Sri Lanka Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) in the recent tournament for selection of athletes for the ‘Asian Athletic Meet - 2023’ made a new Sri Lankan record in Pole Vault event at the Mahinda Rajapaksa playground in Diyagama during 17 - 19 September 2022.
Marking a record height of 5m and 15cm jump, Private K Puvitharan who is an active member of the Sri Lanka Army Athletic Pool would accordingly be qualified to enter the national team in future.
Private Puvitharan of Government Hindu College of Chavakachcheri joined the SL Army in 2021 as a Private. He also won two gold medals for Pole Vault events in the National Junior Sports Festival and National School Sports Festival earlier in addition to the Gold he won at the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Sports Meet.
