Prime Minister Appreciates Indian Army Support for their Sri Lankan Counterparts

The Chief of the Army Staff of India, General Manoj Mukund Naravane, currently in Sri Lanka on Wednesday (13) paid courtesies to Hon Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees as one more segment of the itinerary in Sri Lanka.

General Naravane told the Prime Minister Rajapaksa that both military organizations maintain excellent relations and those positive interactive gestures would further help cement the bilateral relations between the two countries at all levels, including people-to-people connections.

The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the assistance being provided by the Indian Armed Forces to Sri Lanka throughout the years, especially in the sphere of training.

Among other aspects discussed between the two delegations included regional concerns of fundamentalism and terrorism, and the importance of caring for veterans after their service to the country.
