Poor Villagers in East Receive Assistance

TROOPS serving the east continue their civil-oriented welfare projects with the support of the public in respective areas.
 
Troops under 231, 232 and 233 Brigades on the eve of National Day conducted different Shramadana projects and donation of gifts and manual stretches to needy civilians.
 
On Wednesday (3) 231 Brigade troops joined by members of the Civil Defence Forces cleaned up Ruhunuketha Junior School premises. Two officers, fourteen soldiers and a few civilians supported the Shramadana. Similarly, 233 Brigade troops during a Shramadana campaign on Wednesday (3) got rid of wild bushes grown at the public cemetery in the area. Fifteen soldiers and forty villagers took part in the project.
 
Meanwhile, two physically-handicapped civilians in Pulipanchikal and Ilukku villages received two sets of manual stretches from the 233 Brigade troops with the coordination of the civil coordinating officer. In the meantime, twenty-five poor villagers in Muruthanai under 232 Brigade area accepted the donation of twenty-five gift parcels that contained clothes. The donation was made by soldiers in the 232 Brigade. The donation took place on Sunday (31).
