Pitigala & Pelawatta civilians, resident in the general area of Mathugama served by troops of the 612 Brigade of the 61 Division received dry rations and essentials through the Army coordination with patronage extended by the 'Dilru and Kalana Mithuro” organization on Saturday (30 July).
12 Field Engineering Regiment troops of the 612 Brigade under the supervision of Brigadier Bandula Kariyawasam, 612 Brigade Commander organized the distribution of dry ration packs among those needy families as per guidelines given by Major General Mohan Rathnayake, General Officer Commanding of the 61 Division.
Representing donors, Mrs Wasana Dilrukshi Wijesiriwardena Samarasinghe, together with the 612 Brigade Commander, Officers and Other Ranks gave away those dry ration packs, each worth about Rs 5000/=among 50 needy families. The distribution programme took place 12 Field Engineering Regiment HQ Premises at Pitigala.
