Major General Aruna Jayasekera, Commander, Security Forces – East at the request of Major General Mahinda Mudalige, General Officer Commanding, 24 Division was the Chief Guest for unveiling of the pinnacle atop the new pagoda (Dagoba), erected inside the 24 Division Headquarters premises in Ampara on Sunday (10).
The construction project was supported by the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy, Singer Sri Lanka Company Limited and CIC Agri Business (Pvt) Ltd. Enshrinement of sacred relics took place around the same occasion amid ‘Pirith’ chanting that went on till the following morning. Offer of ‘Heel Daana’ (breakfast) to members of Maha Sangha the following morning brought the simple ceremony to an end.
