NOW, LTTE KIDNAP TSUNAMI VICTIMS FROM WELFARE CENTRES

Four identified LTTE cadres, regardless of trauma and tragic circumstances being experienced by tsunami victims, have abducted a civilian from the government-managed Social Welfare Centre at HINDU VIDYALAYA in the general area of VALAICHCHENAI on 30 December 2004 around 3.30 p.m. while his wife looked on.

The victimized father of one child, D. UDAYARAZA of KOILKUDIRIPPU, PANICHCHANKERNI was at HINDU VIDYALAYA with his family when LTTE men, K. JEGANESHWARAN, THOILADASAN, G. MANIKKARASA and B. SINNATHAMBI abducted him according to the complainant, W. NANDANI (the victim's wife) of KOILKUDIRIPPU, PANICHCHANKERNI.

Those LTTE abductors on a three-wheeler had arrived at the venue to forcibly take away the victim who had reportedly escaped from LTTE earlier too after he was detained for more than two months inside an LTTE camp.

The victim's wife has alerted the troops on duty at nearby Jetty Camp who subsequently arrested those LTTE abductors.

Those four LTTE suspects, handed over to the Police were later produced before the BATTICALOA court and released on bail.

However, whereabouts of the abducted civilian are still not known according to the Police.

The Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) was kept informed. The VALAICHCHENAI Police investigations are on
