Veththalaikerny-based 55 Division Headquarters recently organized a one-day awareness workshop on HIV and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) with a view to educating civilians and school children in newly resettled areas.
Dr. A. Krisvan, Consultant, AIDS Prevention Unit in Colombo and Dr. Ganesalingam, Consultant, AIDS Prevention Unit in Jaffna delivered lectures in Tamil language. Dr. N. Edirisinghe delivered lectures in Sinhalese language for the benefit of soldiers serving the 55 Division.
Nearly 375 civilians and 400 soldiers attended the workshop.
Brigadier Ruwan Kulatunge, General Officer Commanding 55 Division and senior officers were also present.
