Newly-Promoted Senior Keterian Felicitated

The ‘Home of Gajaba’ at Saliyapura hosted a felicitation to one of its most recently promoted Senior Officers Major General Dammi Hewage, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division when he arrived at the Gajaba Regiment (GR) Regimental Centre on Saturday (6) after the promotion.

The GR Centre Commandant, Brigadier Dinesh Udugama on behalf of the Colonel of the Regiment, GR, who is also the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva, warmly welcomed the day’s Chief Guest and accorded a Guard Turnout on his arrival at the main entrance of Home of Gajaba.

On his arrival at the Regimental Headquarters premises, he laid a floral wreath at the War Heroes’ monument in remembrance of fallen War Heroes. Afterwards, Centre Commandant, Brigadier Dinesh Udugama welcomed the Chief Guest and invited him to review the Guard of Honour presented by the GR troops in accordance with military traditions.

Major General Dammi Hewage who has actively contributed to bring peace to the country before May 2009 reviewed the elegant Guard of Honour of GR troops before the salute was taken. For his bravery in the battlefield, he had been awarded gallantry medals.
