Major General Hemantha Bandara, Commander Security Forces - Wanni visited the 65 Division HQ and its under command Brigades and Battalions during 8-9 February in Thunukkai area.
On the first day, the visiting Commander called at the Headquarters of the 65 Infantry Division to be received in a Guard Turnout. Afterwards, he was invited to plant a sapling at the Division HQ premises by the General Officer Commanding 65 Infantry Division Major General Tikiri Dissanayaka.
Thereafter, a briefing on the role & tasks of the 65 Infantry Division was conducted by the General Officer Commanding followed by a field visit to the 652 Brigade Headquarters. There too he planted a sapling as a symbol of memory before he undertook a visit to the 10 Sri Lanka Light Infantry camp.
On the Second day, the Commander was honoured in a Guard Turnout at the 653 Brigade Headquarters followed by planting a sapling in the Brigade premises. Thereafter, the Commander Security Forces - Wanni visited 653 Brigade Headquarters and afterwards he visited the holy Madu Shrine and received religious blessings. Then the Commander attended a programme for distribution of school items to the students at School of Madu Sothiya Nagar. The visit concluded after visiting the 24 Gajaba Regiment camp.
