A formal ceremony took place on Saturday (16) in connection with the inauguration of office of the newly-appointed Commander Security Forces - Wanni Major General Hemantha Bandara, the 22nd Commander of the Security Force HQ - Wanni (SFHQ-W).
As the first segment of the ceremony, the new Commander Security Forces - Wanni was accorded a Guard Turnout at the entrance to the premises of the Headquarters of the Security Forces- Wanni. Then he paid tribute to fallen war heroes by laying a floral wreath at the SFHQ monument. Later on, 7 SLSR troops attending the ceremony presented a Guard of Honour.
Thereafter amid religious observances, he placed his signature for a formal document and left memories by planting a mango sapling in the premises and joined for a group photograph with senior officers. Afterwards he addressed all ranks and joined all ranks for refreshments at the Other Ranks’ Mess at the SFHQ Wanni.
