New Wanni Commander Familiarizes Visiting Mannar Area HQs

The new Commander Security Forces- Wanni, Major General Hemantha Bandara made his first official visit to Mannar-based 54 Division HQ and its subordinate headquarters on Monday (18).

He was warmly welcomed by the General Officer Commanding, 54 Division, Major General Indrajith Bandara. Subsequently, a mango sapling was planted in the premises and all officers adding memories appeared for a group photograph with the visiting Wanni Commander. After comprehensive briefings made by respective commanders, Commander Security (Wanni) visited the 7 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

Subsequently, the Commander Security Forces- Wanni paid a courtesy call on the Archbishop of Mannar, Rev Fr Dr. Emmanuel Fernando at the Archbishop House in Mannar. Afterwards, planting of 100 Mee saplings, organized by the 542 Brigade took place in the Wilpaththu area, attended by officers and other ranks.

The official visit concluded after visiting 542 Infantry Brigade where the Commander Security Forces- Wanni had an interaction with all officers of the 54 Division and its subordinate headquarters.

The General Officer Commanding 54 Division, Major General Indrajith Bandara, Commander of 542 Brigade, Brigadier Suresh Perera and the Commander 543 Brigade, Brigadier Imal Assalaarachchi and Commanding Officers of the 54 Division attended the visits.
