New SLAWC Recruits Pass Out at Anuradhapura

The Passing out Parade (PoP) of 34 recruits of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) who followed three-month long SLAWC Recruit Training Course took place recently at the 2 (V) SLAWC Training School in Ranasevapura, Anuradhapura.

Brigadier Sanjaya Wanigasinghe, General Officer Commanding, 62 Division as the Chief Guest, received the salute of the recruits in the PoP ceremony.

Those 34 new recruits, belonged to 3 Regiments of the Army, including Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (18), Sri lanka Army General Service Corps (6) and Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (10).

Special merit awards were awarded to following categories of recruits in different fields of excellence on the same occasion.

Best Shooter, Best Parade Commander, Best All Rounder and a few more achievers were awarded during the ceremony at Anuradhapura.

The recruits were also given 340 saplings and all of them took an oath at the same time that they would take care of those saplings until they turn fully grown as a component in their military life. The oath was also read out in the presence of everyone by the day’s Chief Guest.

A luncheon shared by these new recruits with their parents and well-wishers culminated the day’s proceedings.
