Major General Swarna Bothota assumed duties as the 13th Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps amidst religious blessings at the Regimental Centre on 24 February 2021.
Commencing the day's programme, the newly-appointed Colonel Commandant was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant and Commanding Officer of 1st Reconnaissance Regiment at the entrance to the Home of Armour in Modera.
Subsequently, a Guard of Honour was accorded in order to felicitate his promotion and salute his new office as the Colonel Commandant.
He officially assumed duties as the Colonel Commandant at his office in the presence of Council Members and Senior officers of SLAC.
Setting out his scope of work, Major General Swarna Bothota addressed Officers and Other Ranks and afterwards, he planted a ‘Sandun’ sapling as a symbol of memory.
