Major General A.M Perera assumed office as the new Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) on Monday (26) during a brief ceremony at the SFHQ-C at Diyatalawa.
A Guard Turnout and a formal Guard of Honour saluted the new Commander on arrival at the Rondow grounds at SFHQ-C premises in Diayatalawa.
Members of the Maha Sangha invoked blessings on the new appointment soon after he lit the traditional oil lamp in the office.
After signing the first official document, signifying the acceptance of the new office, Major General Perera planted a tree sapling in the SFHQ-C premises and added memories to the occasion.
Afterwards, Major General Perera addressed the gathering, including General Officers Commanding of 11 and 12 Divisions, 111, 112 and 122 Brigade Commanders, Unit Commanding Officers and other ranks.
